More fall colors and critters...

During a drive at dusk, we spotted these critters. Minnesota has a lot of them.

And an afternoon return to Itasca State Park shows the maples and oak near full color.

Exploring Autumn Lanes...

On the way back to TT we explored an off-the-road lane. The colors were beautiful. The tree on the left is an oak, not a maple...I wish we could bottle up Fall for the rest of the year. Marilyn spotted....
this little creature who stood perfectly still and only moved her ears. She took off when we got closer.

Early Morning Drop-ins...

This morning two bald eagles dropped by right outside the trailer. I took some pictures through the window as even opening the door would cause them to fly. It wasn't long before only one was left. I am sure glad that Ben Franklin didn't get his way in choosing the national bird although with all the politicking going on, there sure seems to be a lot of turkeys.
I caught these three swans on a little lake in Itasca. One is stretching his wings... probably for the long flight soon to come.

Guess who showed up for a visit...

Marilyn noticed a Great Blue Heron on our dock for a short visit... more importantly....Some other visitors (also dressed in blue) showed up for a visit. Thanks for coming our way, Phil and Bonnie.

And you thought you were something....

Here sits a female ruby-throated hummingbird. Her heart beats 1260 beats a minute; she has the largest bird-brain in proportion to her size of any bird; she is basically feathers covering muscles for flying; she flys at 25-30 mph and up to 60 mph in dives; many ruby-throats make a 2000 mile migration from Canada to Panama including a 500 mile non-stop flight over the gulf of Mexico; she can rotate her wings in a circle which allows her to fly forward, backwards, up, down, sideways, or sit in sheer space; she can even fly for short distances upside down to escape a preditor; she raises her brood on her own as the male is not involved in raising the young; and in her non-stop search for fuel she may visit 1000 flowers a day. And you thought that you were something!!!
