| We made a flight to see the Grands for their birthdays at their home in Texas. |

| They grow a couple inches each time we see them. Can you tell they are excited? |

| I went with the kids to Scouts when they were making pineapple upside down cake in cast iron fry pans. Coals were underneath and on top. I have to tell a story of one of the boys dropping the stick of butter on the grass and picking it up and including it in the recipe... oh yeah, this grass is where the chickens hang out during the day. |

| Some of them did turn out well... though M's, through no fault of his own, was a gloppy mess because they ran out of time and it didn't have time to bake long enough. |
 |
| Scouts also went on base to see the first responders. What fun equipment... E is getting the interior tour. One kid hit the horn and we almost had to change. |
 |
| The boy is in there somewhere...so much fun for kids that age. |
 |
| We also made a trip to a farm where C buys produce in the summer. Of course most of the growing season is done but it was already for Halloween. |

| These two are really good friends. |

| A bit like these friends at the zoo... who also have something on their heads. |

| A short hayride and more fun on the farm. |
 |
| We were able to go to lunch at school for each of the birthdays. |
 |
| They seem to really like school... but home work, not so much. |
 |
| Then of course there was gift opening... finally! |

| One eye-opener happened at our visit to the zoo... |

| This ugly critter, no, not the ducks, was hanging over the water on a branch right near where we were feeding the fish. |

| A mid-birthday party for both was held at a fun place for kids |

| More excitement... oh, to be a kid again, eh? |

| We had a great time; shared a lot of laughs... |

| Enjoyed the kids' activities... |

| Loved the Texas blue skies... when it wasn't raining. |

| Saw how school differs from our day... |

| Had lunch with dear ministry friends. |

| Made a quick trip to Big D. |
 |
| Visited a favorite mall from seminary days... I started 50 years ago...oy! |
 |
| But mostly we enjoyed our time with these rascals. E said on the way to the airport that she had super-glued the seats so we couldn't go home. |
 |
| It was a fun trip and one we are glad we didn't miss! |
