All School Reunion Weekend

Labor Day Weekend we went to Steamboat Rock for the all school reunion and visit with family.  This was the placemat.
Classmates from the class of 1962/63 minus Jane who came later.
The old school still looks pretty good despite its age.  A Mexican lady runs Mama's restaurant in the old gym and we had lunch there Sunday.
The plaque in front of the school honors our folks.
Sunday morning the two congregations in town had a community service in the cemetery.
Lots of loved one's graves in the old cemetery.
A school classmate placed this beautiful bench instead of the usual stone marker.  It has John 3:16 written on it.
First Baptist Church is adding a large new sanctuary to the south side of the old stone building.  This fellowship hall was added in recent years since my time there.

The new sanctuary is to the right.  It will take some getting used to for me since it doesn't seem to carry on any of the beautiful stone exterior.  The old sanctuary is now a two story facility with youth on the second floor and offices and rooms on the first.  An October dedication is expected.
The Iowa River was up from all the rains and the dam still stands as I remember it.  M and I used to end our walks/dates at the overlook shelter where I took this picture.
The Hardin County Courthouse in Eldora minus most of the trees which were lost in a storm several years ago.
This little hospital was where I was born and stayed for several days while recovering from a knee injury in high school.  I still remember who came to visit me... funny how that stays with me
When we visited Norm and Jan we drove to the Trestle Bridge.  It was supposed to be a train bridge but never got finished so when the line was closed it was added as part of a central Iowa bike trail.

It was hot when we walked the half mile from the car to the bridge.

Two strangers got into the photo with their additional gestures.  We had a great time and wondering what the reunion will be like in years to come as the Memorial Day Class reunions seemed to have stopped and the all school reunion is only every five years.  There is talk of a yearly reunion back over the Memorial Day weekend, but we will see.  We also saw Lou and Pat a couple of times.
