Some Lake Critters

Living at the lake we have quite a few visitors. Some of them don't even have feathers.
One tried to visit us without us opening the sliding glass door and spent an hour recovering before moving on.
All summer I have been trying to get a picture of a Pileated Woodpecker but wasn't able to get close before it would fly away. When our friends Lee and Marsha (above) visited, we all were sitting on the deck and the bird came to the suet feeder. I was able to get some pictures and the bird returned for several days after.

We had one more kayak trip and found a lone Heron still around.
And another smaller Woodpecker. They will have to fend for themselves over the winter as we have returned from the lake for the year. It was a great summer with family and friends.

September is Fall in Minnesota

The days are getting shorter by minutes a day and the shadows are longer in the woods.
There are fewer and fewer boats on the lake.
An occasional oak tree is showing its fall colors.
We are thinking that eating on the deck may be a pleasure over for this season.
The summer clouds have been replaced by the blue skies and calm days of Fall.
Monarch Butterflies are taking a rest before their long trip to Mexico.
And an occasional female Hummingbird is the only one left at the feeder.
The Fuchsia plant is finally displaying its glory only days before the predicted first freeze...
While a single Maple beat all the rest in showing off this fall.
Sadly, September sunrises will soon give way to the colder days to come. We've had a wonderful summer with loved ones and God's beautiful creation!

Mackster's Movements

Can this boy be anything but a Razorback fan?
We got in on his first day of Mother's Day Out.
He is trying to make a new friend but she kept moving away.
Arkansas has such fun creatures to play with.
Makes you just want to sit down in the grass and fix your mower.
What kind of spider was it?  Hmmm... let's see...
Picking up IPad lessons from Tutu.

Hanging out with Miss E

Here Tutu is hanging around with Miss E just up from her nap...
She pulls herself up on anything she can grab on to.
Never too busy for a smile and a wave.
Not all the time of course.
But she is one happy kid most of the time.
 The Slanger girls.
My oh my, how we will miss this little one... and her brother and Mommy too!
