Here and there the middle of August

an old fashioned Gospel sing led by Mark Hulst under a big tent on the farm;

visited Bergeson Gardens for their annual August display;

enjoyed lunch at Chase on the Lake in Walker...

had a nice visit from ladies from Faith Free at Douglas Lodge;

and played hide and seek with an eagle and a...

Lately at the Lake

First he sprayed it with "Whipped Cream".... made them mad!

Unfortunately the four adults watching close by heard a scream from a little boy watching farther away... one of them nailed him on the arm, a bee, not an adult... owwweeee! How many bees was it E? Just one was all it took.

M likes Willie and Wayland, the goats, and enjoys feeding them green twigs.

He also is a great thrower of sand... look out!

He'll tip his hat to that!

Last Sunday Mr. Doug offered to give M his first boat ride. Unlike when I was a kid, today's child comes prepared to avoid any sunburn... I mean any sunburn.

First thing Mr. Doug said was, "Mack gets to drive!" And off we went holding on to our caps.

Mommy's reaction pretty well summed it up.

After going around in circles a while, M discovered the throttle... zooom, stop, zooom, stop.

Fortunately we all survived... thank you, Mr. Doug. This is how little boys get interested in things that go fast.

Our nice Hosta plants met the deer... they are earlier than usual and the stinkers have plenty to eat. I guess they are better in the campground than the black bear and three cubs I saw on the way over on the north edge of Itasca Park.

One more trip to Minnesota's number one State Park... Itasca.

We had to have a caramel roll... yikes... sugar high!

M checked out the Douglas Lodge.

More stories... and books... Slangers love books.

And a few shots of the local predators... and that's all for this summer with the grand kids. Great fun and Lord willing more to come.
