Custer and Clouds

It it a beautiful drive from Billings to Casper and we saw some fantastic clouds and many, many antelope.




General George Custer and 210 soldiers died along with 100 native American Indians in the Battle of the Little Big Horn. The monument to the fallen soldiers stands on Last Stand Hill where Custer and many others were killed. Custer was later exhumed and buried at West Point.
There is also a memorial to the fallen Indians.


The stones are where many of the soldiers fell but the memorial stones are scattered all over the hills surrounding this Last Stand Hill. In the background is a National Cemetery where some soldiers from many of our wars are buried.

The Memorial Stands at the top of Last Stand Hill where Custer and quite a few other soldiers finally were overrun by the Indians.

An orchid like wild flower blooms in the middle of the battlefield... a lone tribute to the fallen soldiers and Indians.
